2012 Château Brane-Cantenac "Baron de Brane", Margaux, Bordeaux, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
Château Brane-Cantenac is rightly seen as one of the pinnacles of Margaux. Baron is the property’s Second wine, made with the same strict attention as its sibling, but given a shorter, 12-month barrel aging to achieve an aromatic, densely flavored style, with elegant tannins.
This vintage is perfectly à point. Mid ruby color, the Cabernet Sauvignon (60% of the blend) is apparent in the violet, blackberry, and cassis aromas, which intermingle beautifully with savory spice. The palate is velvety and freshly balanced; the finish being immensely satisfying for immediate drinking.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Lucien Lurton's grandfather acquired the estate in 1925, and was succeeded by his grandson in 1956. Lucien Lurton's son, Henri, currently manages the estate and puts all his efforts into producing a great Margaux in each and every vintage, reflecting Brane-Cantenac's superb vineyard soil.
