2019 Hiyu "Corvus" Columbia Gorge Red Wine, Columbia Gorge, Oregon, USA
ABOUT THIS WINE
This is a half acre parcel above the estate's pond that produces around a barrel each year. It’s right next to Moondog and planted to the same mixture of Burgundian grapes based on heirloom clones of Pinot Noir. In 2019 this is the riper and more baroquely textured of the two wines. This is an incredibly complex and hedonistic bottle of Pinot and has an absurdly decadent texture for a wine with just 12% alcohol. This of course also means that it has an ethereal side and it’s fascinating to feel those qualities oscillate over the course of a bottle.
