2020 Radikon “Jakot”, Venezia Giulia IGT, Italy - 1L
ABOUT THIS WINE
Jakot (a reverse spelling of “Tokaj,” used after EU naming regulations) is made entirely from organically farmed Friulano vines planted on the marl and sandstone soils of Oslavia in Friuli. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts, followed by an extended maceration on skins for 8–14 days. Aging takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels for around 18 months, and the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulfur.
The result is a golden-hued, textural white wine with complexity and grip. The 2020 vintage offers layers of orange blossom, dried fruit, tea leaf, almond skin, and flinty minerality. Firm acidity and a dry, savory finish give it remarkable versatility at the table.
