2021 Lucien Albrecht Pinot Gris "Cuvée Romanus" Alsace, France
ABOUT THE WINE
The “Cuvée Romanus” is named in homage to the Albrecht family’s Roman ancestry and longstanding winemaking tradition in Alsace. Sourced from estate vineyards on clay-limestone slopes around Orschwihr and Rouffach, the 2021 vintage benefited from a cool, late-ripening season that preserved freshness and aromatic clarity. Grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to retain varietal character. The wine offers a richer, off-dry style of Pinot Gris, characteristic of the region, but with restraint and lift. Notes of stone fruit, white tea, and spice evolve in the glass, making it an excellent pairing for dishes like duck à l’orange, roast pork with apples, or savory vegetable tarts.

Lucien Albrecht’s winemaking philosophy combines tradition with technical precision—favoring gentle handling, clean fermentations, and a site-specific approach to varietal expression. “Cuvée Romanus” reflects the estate’s ability to craft wines that are both accessible and authentic, honoring the complexity and beauty of Alsace.
