2021 Weingut Knoll Riesling Ried Loibenberg Smaragd, Wachau, Austria

ABOUT THE WINE

Sourced from the sun-drenched terraces of Ried Loibenberg, one of the warmest and most iconic sites in the Wachau, this Smaragd-level Riesling is the epitome of grandeur and site expression. The weathered gneiss and loess soils lend a deep mineral character and excellent drainage, while the 2021 vintage—a cool, balanced year—imparts precise acidity and lifted aromatics.

The wine opens with notes of apricot skin, ripe citrus, white blossoms, and cool stone. On the palate, it is full-bodied and taut, with layered fruit, subtle herbal tones, and a core of shimmering salinity. Fermented and matured in stainless steel with minimal intervention, the wine captures the essence of its terroir with elegance and aging potential.

Enjoy with roasted game birds, veal in white wine sauce, aged alpine cheeses, or rich seafood like turbot or scallops.
