2022 Domaine Comte Georges De Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny, Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy, France

ABOUT THIS WINE

This wine comes from a blend of younger vines (generally under 25 years old) within the domaine’s Grand Cru Musigny and Premier Cru Les Amoureuses holdings, along with village-designated plots. While officially labeled as Chambolle-Musigny AOC, it captures extraordinary pedigree and depth, offering a glimpse of Vogüé’s top terroirs in a more approachable format.

The 2022 vintage was marked by a warm but balanced growing season, resulting in fruit with excellent aromatic development and structural freshness. Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts and gentle extraction, tailored to preserve aromatic lift and silkiness. Aging takes place in French oak barrels (roughly 15–20% new) for about 18 months, allowing the wine to gain complexity while retaining its purity. The result is a Chambolle of finesse and subtle energy—showing red currant, fresh cherry, tea leaf, and floral tones with a touch of stony minerality. It’s ideal with roast quail, mushroom dishes, or grilled salmon.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is an iconic, centuries-old estate rooted in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny, with a viticultural lineage dating back to 1450. As the largest landholder in Musigny Grand Cru, and with historic parcels in Bonnes-Mares and Les Amoureuses, the domaine is synonymous with the pinnacle of Chambolle expression: wines of tension, depth, and perfume.

Guided in recent decades by a steady team of François Millet (winemaker emeritus), Jean-Luc Pépin, and now a new generation upholding the domaine’s legacy, Vogüé has remained committed to classic, site-driven winemaking. Farming is lutte raisonnée (reasoned struggle), focusing on sustainability and terroir clarity. The village Chambolle-Musigny, despite its humble designation, is one of the most refined and soulful expressions of the appellation—demonstrating that even the entry point at this domaine speaks with quiet nobility and class.
