2022 Domaine de Chateaumar "Secret de Nos Vignes" Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône Valley, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
The Secret de Nos Vignes is Domaine de Châteaumar’s flagship cuvée from the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, crafted from old-vine Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, sourced from plots with classic galets roulés (rounded river stones) over clay and limestone soils. These heat-retaining stones help grapes achieve full phenolic ripeness, contributing to the wine’s depth and aromatic intensity.
The 2022 vintage was warm but balanced, allowing for optimal ripeness and concentration. Grapes are harvested manually, with strict sorting in the vineyard and cellar. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats, and the wine is aged in a combination of large oak foudres and stainless steel to preserve freshness and authenticity.
The wine is full-bodied yet refined, with notes of cherry liqueur, roasted herbs, and subtle spice. Its supple texture and structured finish make it both approachable in youth and capable of aging gracefully for 10–15 years.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Domaine de Châteaumar is a family-run estate with a deep legacy in the southern Rhône. Though Châteaumar has long cultivated vines in the region, it began bottling under its own label more recently, focusing on quality-driven, terroir-expressive wines from both Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The estate practices organic farming and favors traditional methods: hand-harvesting, minimal intervention in the cellar, and aging in concrete and large neutral wood. Their Secret de Nos Vignes cuvée is a testament to this philosophy—a wine that honors the traditions of Châteauneuf-du-Pape while offering elegance, freshness, and drinkability.
