2023 Bodegas Navarrsotillo "Gaupasa" Tinto, Navarra, Spain

ABOUT THE WINE

The Gaupasa Tinto is crafted primarily from Tempranillo, the cornerstone grape of Navarra, with Garnacha and other local varieties often complementing the blend. Fruit comes from organically farmed estate vineyards, rooted in clay-limestone soils that lend freshness and balance. The 2023 vintage brought ripe, healthy fruit with excellent flavor concentration and natural vibrancy.

Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel with native yeasts to preserve aromatic purity and the natural brightness of the fruit. Aging is brief and mainly in tank, allowing the wine to retain its youthful, juicy character without oak influence.

The result is a red that’s versatile and unpretentious—bursting with fruit, touched by floral lift, and structured by soft, approachable tannins. It’s made for immediate enjoyment but carries enough backbone to shine at the table.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Bodegas Navarrsotillo is a family-owned, certified organic winery based in Calahorra, Rioja Baja, on the border of Navarra and Rioja. Founded in the 1990s by brothers Andrés and Ramón Serrano, the estate was among the pioneers of organic viticulture in the region. Today, it remains committed to sustainable farming and minimal-intervention winemaking, producing wines that combine tradition with a modern sense of freshness and drinkability.

The winery farms its vineyards without synthetic chemicals, using compost, cover crops, and natural practices to maintain soil vitality. In the cellar, fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts, and oak is used judiciously depending on the cuvée’s style.

The Gaupasa line captures the spirit of Navarra in its most vibrant and accessible form—fruit-forward, organic, and made for convivial enjoyment, reflecting the winery’s mission to craft honest, terroir-driven wines with broad appeal.
