2023 Domaine Cordier Pouilly-Fuissé "Vieilles Vignes", Burgundy, France

ABOUT THIS WINE

This cuvée is produced from old-vine Chardonnay planted in the limestone and clay soils typical of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation in Burgundy’s Mâconnais. Many of the vines exceed 50 years of age, naturally yielding smaller crops that result in greater concentration and depth.

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before pressing. Fermentation typically takes place using indigenous yeasts in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for several months, which enhances texture and complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit and the mineral character of the terroir. Oak influence is subtle, allowing the natural expression of the vineyard and vintage to shine.

The 2023 vintage offers both richness and precision, making the wine approachable in its youth while capable of developing additional complexity with a few years of bottle age. It pairs beautifully with lobster, seared scallops, roast poultry, creamy pasta dishes, or aged cheeses.
