2023 Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru "Porusot", Burgundy, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
Located mid-slope, just below “Les Genevrières,” Les Porusots is one of Meursault’s most characterful Premier Cru sites, marked by deep clay-limestone soils and excellent sun exposure. Roulot’s 2023 bottling captures the vineyard’s natural depth while preserving the domaine’s signature sense of lift and precision.
Organically farmed and hand-harvested, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented with native yeasts in French oak barrels (20–25% new). The wine is aged for 12–15 months on fine lees without bâtonnage, followed by additional time in tank before bottling to sharpen definition. The result is a wine of quiet intensity—less overt than some Meursaults, but pulsing with inner energy and age-worthy structure. Serve with lobster, roasted poultry in cream sauce, or aged Comté to highlight its depth and finesse.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Domaine Roulot, under the stewardship of Jean-Marc Roulot, is a benchmark for white Burgundy, renowned for producing some of the most precise, mineral-driven expressions of Chardonnay in the region. Based in Meursault and farming organically since 1998, the domaine emphasizes freshness, terroir transparency, and meticulous vinification.
Jean-Marc is known for his philosophical and exacting approach, avoiding overt oak or excess ripeness in favor of purity and line. His Porusot bottling stands among the great white wines of the Côte de Beaune, bridging the rich potential of the vineyard with a distinctly Roulot clarity—delivering a Meursault of grace, dimension, and quiet grandeur.
