2023 Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc, Constantia Valley, Western Cape, South Africa
ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2023 vintage is a textbook expression of Klein Constantia’s cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc, grown on steep, granitic slopes facing False Bay. The ocean’s moderating influence allows for long, even ripening, which translates into exceptional aromatic complexity and natural acidity. Whole-bunch pressed and fermented in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak for added texture, the wine retains its clarity and verve while gaining subtle depth.
In the glass, it opens with fragrant aromas of citrus blossom, green fig, and lemongrass. On the palate, it is energetic and tightly wound, with layers of grapefruit, green apple, and crushed seashells. A brief period on fine lees lends polish and nuance. Ideal with oysters, grilled calamari, or goat cheese tart, it’s also compelling on its own.
