2024 Famille Guerin Beaujolais Blanc, Beaujolais, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
Aromatically, this wine has some detailed aromas of wild herbs and flowers, with golden chamomile notes, nectarine and pear drops. Honeyed and rich on the palate, with long, clean acids. There is almond among the citrus and orchard fruits, rounding out with some creaminess and subtle anise bitters in the finish. An accomplished, classical number from Elisa that flirts with something Burgundian.
After a cold maceration over 24 hours, the grapes were then direct-pressed into old Burgundy barrels to ferment. Half the wine is then left on lees in the wood and the other half racked and transferred to fibreglass cuve to rest for 8 months before bottling.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
The first lines were written by Robert Guérin when, in the late 1930s, he settled in Chenac-sur-Gironde as a winegrower with 2.5 hectares. Passionate about his land and its potential, he produced Pineau des Charentes, which he introduced on a Solex moped in Saint-Palais, his hometown.
A new chapter began when his children joined the family business and expanded production. Together with an uncle and three other local winegrowers, they created the “SICA Puy Gaudin” cooperative on May 1, 1967, to pool their knowledge and resources.
The chapters then follow one another; the changes of site, the marketing in large distribution, the installation of new generations… For each line written, the passion of the Guérin family for their territory, their profession and their desire to share their products with you remains intact.
Today's chapter is written by a great family. Passionate about their craft, they want to share their world with you: a subtle blend of expertise, daily dedication, and modernity. This unique combination gives birth to Guérin's Pineau, Cognacs, and Vermouths.
