2024 Pio Cesare "L'Altro" Langhe Chardonnay, Piedmont, Italy

ABOUT THE WINE

Produced in the Langhe hills of Langhe, within Piedmont, “L’Altro” is made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from estate and selected family-owned vineyards planted on calcareous marl and sandy soils. These soils lend both aromatic lift and structural tension to the wine.

The 2024 vintage emphasizes freshness and precision. Fermentation typically takes place partly in stainless steel to preserve fruit purity and partly in French oak barrels to add depth and texture. Malolactic fermentation is partially completed, balancing bright acidity with a subtle roundness. Aging on the lees enhances complexity without overshadowing the wine’s lively character.

In the glass, the wine shows notes of lemon peel, pear, white flowers, and a hint of hazelnut—an elegant nod to Piedmont’s culinary heritage. The texture is smooth yet energetic, with balanced acidity carrying through to a clean, mineral-driven finish.

Food pairings: vitello tonnato, seafood risotto, grilled branzino, roast chicken with herbs, fresh goat cheese, or pasta with lemon and olive oil.
