NV Leclaire-Thiefaine Champagne "Cuvée 00 - Terre Blanche", Champagne, France
ABOUT THIS WINE
This cuvée is a Blanc de Blancs made exclusively from Chardonnay harvested in 2020 from Premier Cru vineyards in Grauves, a village known for its chalky soils and expressive whites. A portion (17%) of reserve wines from Grand Cru plots adds layered complexity. Fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts, and aging takes place for over 24 months on the lees under natural cork—no oak is used, preserving the wine’s purity and precision.
The resulting Champagne is focused and fresh, offering bright notes of citrus, white stone fruit, and dried flowers, followed by subtle hints of almond and spice. The Extra Brut dosage (4 g/L) keeps the texture lean and sharp, enhancing the wine’s clarity and terroir expression. It is ideal alongside oysters, shellfish, creamy cheeses, or simply served as a sophisticated aperitif.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Champagne Leclaire-Thiefaine is a family-run house with deep roots in Avize, founded in 1878 and now under the stewardship of sixth-generation winemaker Constantin Leclaire. After honing his skills in top wine regions around the globe, Constantin returned to Champagne in 2020 to pursue a site-specific, sustainable approach to winemaking.
With 4 hectares planted primarily to Chardonnay, the estate is farmed without herbicides and with an emphasis on biodiversity and soil vitality. Their oldest parcels are plowed by horse, and every vineyard is vinified separately to highlight individual character. The result is a lineup of Champagnes that are precise, elegant, and true to their origin—authentic wines shaped by tradition and innovation.
