2021 Marso Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Abruzzo, Italy

ABOUT THIS WINE

This is the pride of the Bove family estate in Avezzano, established in 1930. One of the oldest family-run wineries in Abruzzo, the best parcels are carefully hand-selected for this top cuvee from the estate. Aging is conducted in both, cement (1/3) and French Allier barrels (2/3) for 12-14 months before bottling. The wine rests in bottle until completely mature before release.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Three generations of the Bove family have been producing these hallmark wines from the Abruzzo region since 1930. These indigenous varieties from the Adriatic coast represent a powerful Montepulciano from the best parcels on the estate, aged fourteen months in barrel, and one of the most exciting white wines coming out of Italy today, Pecorino. Both wines are complex and deliciously food friendly. Marso is dedicated to the “Marsi” people who settled the Abruzzo territory in the 1st millennium BC. In 91 BC they fought the Roman empire for citizenship which led to the unification of the Roman states making way for the Roman Empire.
